Oura Ring
Last updated: 28 August 2026
If you wear an Oura Ring, you can connect it to the Living Fit Malta training app so your daily session is adjusted to how recovered you actually are, instead of how recovered a calendar thinks you should be.
Connecting is entirely optional. The app works fully without it, and nothing about your Oura account is read until you sign in at Oura and approve access yourself.
The short version
We read a small set of recovery metrics — sleep, heart-rate variability and resting heart rate — and use them to shape today's training. Your access token is encrypted on our servers, your data is visible only to you and your coach, and you can disconnect and delete everything from the app in two taps. This is not a medical device and gives no diagnosis.
1. What connecting does
You tap Connect Oura Ring in the app's Settings. You are sent to Oura's own site, sign in there, and see Oura's consent screen listing what Living Fit Malta is asking for. If you approve, Oura sends us an access token and we import your recent history. We never see or store your Oura password.
2. Exactly what data we read
We request the minimum needed for the recovery features, and nothing else:
- Sleep duration — total time asleep per night.
- Sleep score — Oura's daily sleep quality score.
- Heart-rate variability (HRV) — your nightly average.
- Resting heart rate — your lowest or average overnight heart rate.
- Basic account info — used only to show which Oura account is connected.
We do not read your location, your messages, your contacts, or anything outside the Oura metrics above. We do not sell or share this data with advertisers, and we never use it for advertising or profiling.
3. What we do with it
The metrics feed a single number in the app — your readiness score. A poor night's sleep or a suppressed HRV compared with your own 28-day baseline lowers today's recommended volume and intensity; a strong recovery raises it. That is the whole purpose. It is a training aid, not a medical assessment, and it does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition.
4. How it is stored and who can see it
- Your Oura access and refresh tokens are encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before they are written to our database and are never sent back to your browser.
- Imported metrics are stored against your account only, protected by row-level security so no other member can read them.
- If you train with a coach, they see the summary metrics that inform your sessions — never your Oura account or your tokens.
- Data is processed on our behalf by our hosting and database providers under data-processing agreements, within or protected for the EU/EEA.
5. Legal basis and consent
Sleep and heart-rate data is health data under Article 9 of the GDPR. We process it solely on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you approve the Oura connection. The controller is DG Ventures AB. You can withdraw consent at any time — see below — and withdrawing does not affect anything already lawfully processed before you withdrew.
6. How to disconnect and delete
- Open the app and go to Settings.
- In the Oura Ring card, tap Disconnect. Syncing stops immediately and your stored token is deleted.
- To also erase the metrics already imported, email privacy@livingfitmalta.com and we will delete them.
- You can additionally revoke Living Fit Malta from Oura's own account settings at cloud.ouraring.com.
7. Questions
Full details of how we handle your data are in our privacy policy and terms of service. Oura's own handling of your data is governed by Oura's privacy policy. Anything unclear, write to privacy@livingfitmalta.com.
